Ammunition Company To Close Wisconsin Plant

Minnesota ammunition company ATK Ammunition said it plans to close its plant in western Wisconsin, idling 130 workers.

TOWN OF ONALASKA, Wis. (AP) -- A Minnesota ammunition company plans to close its plant in western Wisconsin, idling 130 workers.

ATK Ammunition says most operations at the plant on Brice Prairie will shut down in the next two months. The announcement comes less than a year after the company added workers at the plant after bringing back a product line from overseas.

The Brice Prairie plant has been operating since the 1960s and manufactures gun cleaning products, scope mounts, targets and replacement gun stocks. The La Crosse Tribune (http://bit.ly/GYA8MB ) says ATK, based in Anoka, Minn., also plans to scale back operations at its plant in Fenton, Mo.
