OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a trench collapsed, trapping and killing a construction worker in southwestern Michigan.
The Kalamazoo Gazette and WOOD-TV report the man was working on a house under construction Wednesday afternoon in Kalamazoo County's Oshtemo Township when the trench collapsed.
The man's name has not been released, but WOOD reports he was 58 and worked for Mattawan-based C Johnson & Son Excavating Co.
Authorities say the man was connecting a sewer line in the trench when an entire side caved in on him. Attempts to dig him out were unsuccessful.
