A memorial plaque at the Fire Department's headquarters will honor firefighters and EMS workers who've died of illnesses after working at ground zero.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said they expect the plaque to be unveiled at the Brooklyn headquarters by the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

It initially will include 24 names.

The announcement was made Wednesday during a memorial service for 14 active department members who died in the past year. None died while on duty.

Cassano said three of those were victims of illnesses linked to World Trade Center the rescue and recovery efforts.
