Leaf Blower Manufacturing Moving To Tenn.

Giant-Vac, a producer of leaf and debris control equipment, is moving manufacturing to Tennessee from Connecticut and could bring in 75 new jobs.

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Giant-Vac, a producer of leaf and debris control equipment, is moving manufacturing to Tennessee from Connecticut and could bring in 75 new jobs.

Blake Lay, chief executive officer for InSyte Solutions Inc., which purchased Giant-Vac last year, told the Times Daily in Florence, Ala., that the manufacturing operation and warehouse will move to the old Murray manufacturing plant in Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce economic development coordinator Gwynn Ware said the relocation will help reduce the county's unemployment rate, which is 11 percent.

InSyte is headquartered in Lawrenceburg. It builds lawn mowers, equipment for John Deere and outdoor fryers and employs 160 workers during peak times. Lay said having both operations in the same facility will allow for more steady employment.
