MORRISVILLE, Vt. (AP) -- The maker of Monster energy drinks is taking aim at a Vermont brewery that sells a beer called Vermonster.
Rock Art Brewery, which makes beer in Morrisville, says it has been told by Corona, Calif.-based Hansen Beverage Co. to stop selling the brew.
Matt Nadeau (nah-DOH'), owner of Rock Art Brewery, says he got a cease-and-desist letter from a Hansen Beverage lawyer. The letter says consumers could be confused about which drink is which. Diane Reed, the lawyer who sent it, didn't immediately return an e-mail message seeking comment Monday.
Nadeau created Vermonster to mark his 10th anniversary in business. Now, he's trying to drum up support. His Web site calls the battle "Rock Art Brewery vs. Corporate America."
