GM Engine Plant Hits 2 Million Mark

Automaker’s Spring Hill, Tenn., Powertrain Plant has produced its 2 millionth Ecotec Engine.

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (AP) -- The General Motors Spring Hill Powertrain Plant has produced its 2 millionth Ecotec Engine.

GM officials said in a news release that the milestone was reached Wednesday.

The plant, 40 miles south of Nashville, has been producing the engine since June 1, 2002.

The facility supplies engines in North America for the Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR and Malibu, the Saturn Aura and Vue and the Pontiac G6; in Canada for the new Chevrolet Equinox & GMC Terrain; in Europe for the Opel Insignia; and in Shanghai for the Buick LaCrosse.
