SPRING HILL, Tenn. (AP) — Spring Hill is tooting its own horn in hopes of keeping the General Motors Corp. factory open in that town.
City officials hope that a new Web site will help convince GM to select the factory for production of a subcompact car.
SaveOurPlant.com states that Spring Hill has one of the three newest GM vehicle assembly factories in the United States and the newest and most flexible body shop and paint shop in North America.
Spring Hill officials told The Daily Herald in Columbia the local economy is dependent on the factory that will likely close if it is not selected.
But Gov. Phil Bredesen has said he is skeptical the state will be able to come up with the hundreds of millions of dollars the company apparently wants the state to provide.
