Harley-Davidson Drops Plans For New Plant

Motorcycle maker has dropped plans to build a $10 million plant for its Buell Motorcycle division in Wisconsin.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Harley-Davidson Inc. has dropped plans to build a $10 million plant for its Buell (BYOOL) Motorcycle division.

Just last week, Buell announced it would lower costs by consolidating five office and factory locations into a new plant in East Troy.

Harley spokeswoman Rebecca Bortner says executives dropped the plan after the company's new CEO, Keith Wandell, "took a fresh look" at the consolidation.

Bortner says Harley wants to remain focused on its larger capital restructuring plans, including the possibility of closing its York, Pa., plant.
