Hitachi Expands Oklahoma Plant

Computer products plant in Norman will be more than doubled in size with the addition of a new distribution center, creating 75 jobs.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- The Hitachi Computer Products plant in Norman will be more than doubled in size with the addition of a new distribution center.

A spokesman for Hitachi Computer Products America Inc. says the plant will add employees and begin hiring in June but wouldn't say how many jobs will be created.

Norman Economic Development Coalition director Don Woods says about 75 jobs will be added. The plant currently has about 300 employees.

The company says the move is part of the consolidation of its U.S. distribution operations.
