Qimonda To Sell Plant In Virginia

German computer chip maker is looking for a potential buyer for its Richmond-area semiconductor plant.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Qimonda North America Corp. is looking for a buyer for its Richmond-area semiconductor plant.

Qimonda North America said Thursday night in a news release that an advisory team will talk with potential buyers. The Sandston plant's tool line and clean room manufacturing facilities will be sold separately if a buyer isn't found.

Qimonda North America announced in early February that it would close the Sandston plant, laying off 1,500 workers. Its parent, German computer chip maker Qimonda AG, had declared bankruptcy in January.

The advisory team's members are ATREG, Emerald Technology Valuations LLC and Gordon Brothers Commercial & Industrial.
