Dell Shuttering Part Of Tenn. Plant

PC Maker will close part of its Lebanon, Tenn., plant and move more than 250 employees about 25 miles west to Nashville next week.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Dell Inc. will close part of its Lebanon plant and move more than 250 employees about 25 miles west to Nashville next week.

Dell spokesman Ken Bissell says employees who built desktop computers would now either box, ship or handle materials in the company's distribution center.

The remaining 250 workers in Lebanon will continue to refurbish desktop PCs.

The Tennessean reports the transition is due to weaker sales for the Dell computers and an overall decline in demand for PCs industrywide.
