PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Industrial conglomerate Textron Inc. said Monday it will expand operations in Mexico by building a new manufacturing plant in the northern state of Chihuahua.
Operating as Textron International Mexico, the plant will manufacture various minor assemblies, wire bundles and other parts for the Bell 429 commercial helicopter.
Completed work will be shipped to Textron's Canadian helicopter manufacturing operation for final assembly.
Providence, R.I.-based Textron, which makes products from Cessna airplanes to E-Z-GO golf carts, expects to eventually employ about 375 workers at the Chihuahua plant.
Shares of Textron fell $3.31, or 10.3 percent, to $29.17 in midday trading.
