Spartan Chassis To Make Military Vehicle Parts

Company has been awarded more than $130 million in military vehicle component orders in the last three months.

CHARLOTTE, Mich. (AP) — Spartan Chassis Inc., a subsidiary of Spartan Motors Inc., said Tuesday it will spend $4.5 million to buy and renovate two manufacturing plants adjacent to its Charlotte, Mich., headquarters.
 
One of the plants is already operational, and the second is expected to begin production by the end of the year.
 
The plants total 200,000 square feet and will be used to produce chassis components for mine-resistent military vehicles. The company has been awarded more than $130 million in military vehicle component orders in the last three months.
