New Hampshire Gets A Little Sweeter

Lindt chocolate factory expansion adds 500 jobs to state's economy; facility produces 7 million truffles a day.

STRATHAM, N.H. (AP) — A 300,000-square-foot addition to Lindt USA's national headquarters and production facility is adding 500 jobs to New Hampshire's economy.

Gov. John Lynch noted after a ribbon cutting and tour Thursday that the multinational company could have located anywhere but chose New Hampshire.

He said New Hampshire now will be known as the ''sweetest'' if not the ''chocolatiest'' state in the nation.

Lindt USA produces its Lindor Truffle collection at the facility and will soon produce bars, as well. About 7 million truffles are produced each day at the facility.

The multimillion dollar expansion project comes on the heels of major growth in the premium chocolate market.
