Albany International Eliminates 225 Jobs

Company consolidating and moving some press fabric and dryer fabric manufacturing to other locations in North America.

ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany International Corp. announced Thursday it is discontinuing operations at its press fabric manufacturing facility in East Greenbush and ceasing production of dryer fabrics at its headquarters in Albany, N.Y.

The closings are part of a continuing consolidation of customers in the U.S. and Canada and the company's need to balance paper machine clothing manufacturing capacity in North America with anticipated paper mill demand.

Approximately 225 employees will be affected by the closures.

The company's Corporate and Americas Business Corridor headquarters and selected manufacturing for non-paper markets will remain at its Albany location.

Transition of press fabric and dryer fabric manufacturing from Albany to other facilities in North America is expected to be completed by the end of January 2008.
