WASHINGTON - In the week ending April 28, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 305,000, a decrease of 21,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 326,000, according to a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) report.
New Jersey and Wisconsin both experienced over 3,000 fewer anticipated layoffs in the transportation, warehousing, construction, manufacturing, and construction and trade industries.
Tennessee experienced over 1,000 layoffs in the industrial machinery, chemical, and trade industries, while Michigan experienced over 3,000 layoffs in the automobile industry.
