Dell's India Manufacturing Plant To Be Up And Running By July

Michael Dell announced on Tuesday that its Chennai, India, plant will be operational by July.

Michael Dell, founder of the world’s largest computer maker, said on Tuesday that Dell Computers' Chennai, India, plant will be operational by July.

The Chennai location will mainly serve the domestic Indian market. The company is expecting its India revenues to move toward the $1 billion mark. According to research from Dell, Internet use in the country has increased 700 percent since 2000.

“With local manufacturing in place, Dell’s most comprehensive presence in the world outside the United States will be here in India - domestic sales, research and development, manufacturing, customer support, services and analytics,” CEO Dell said at a press conference.
