Safety-Kleen To Acquire Jacobus Environmental Services

Acquisiton includes Jacobus' oil collection facilities in seven Midwest states.

Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc. announced Thursday its acquisition of Jacobus Environmental Services, a collector of used oil, oil filters and antifreeze in the upper Midwest.

The acquisition includes seven oil collection facilities owned or leased by Jacobus in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming, and a fleet of 27 oil collection trucks. Jacobus serviced about 16,000 customers in these states.

Steve Anaker, formerly with Jacobus, will become a vice president at Safety Kleen.

According to Safety-Kleen CEO and President Frederick J. Florjancic, the acquisition will strengthen its core business, expand customer relationships, add experienced new employees, and enhance Safety-Kleen's profitability.

Florjancic said that Safety-Kleen will keep current service agreements and schedules intact for existing Jacobus customers.

Safety-Kleen, a provider of industrial waste management services, has about 4,500 employees in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
