Dell Moving More Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management Ops To Singapore

Dell will be moving more of its supply chain and manufacturing operations to Singapore, adding about 400 new jobs to the region.

SINGAPORE (AP) - U.S. computer maker Dell Inc. will move more of its global supply chain management and manufacturing operations to Singapore, adding up to 400 new jobs in the region, a company spokesman said Friday.

''We continually change the way we're structured so that we can best run that business for customers. As a result of this change we will have certain portions of our global manufacturing and global supply chain management directed from Singapore,'' said Dell spokesman T.R. Reid.

Dell, which has its headquarters for Asia-Pacific and Japan in Singapore, expects that most of the 300 to 400 new jobs will be added in the city-state, Reid said.

Currently, the Texas-based computer maker employs 24,800 people across the Asia-Pacific region, with about 400 in Singapore.
