Boeing Consolidating Southern California Facilities

Moving 3,700 workers from Anaheim to Huntington Beach.

Boeing Co. said Friday it will relocate 3,700 employees as part of a consolidation of its Southern California facilities over the next four years.

The aircraft and defense company will relocate its Anaheim facility and workers to Huntington Beach, with design and construction starting immediately. Boeing expects significant employee relocations to start early next year and continue through 2010.

''As our programs change and mature, we will adjust accordingly to provide a stable environment, reduce operation costs and maintain our competitiveness in the marketplace,'' said Gary Toyama, Vice President of Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems unit, which works with government, military and commercial customers.

Nearly all of the moves in the consolidation will occur within a 25-mile radius, according to the company.

Boeing said it is working with the city of Anaheim to redevelop the former facility.
