Desiring to expand the bounds of the known Intelligent Asset Technology sphere, ICONICS developed AssetWorX™, a module core to the GENESIS64™ product renowned for its cutting edge HMI/SCADA capabilities. By reorganizing all enterprise and equipment data into reusable asset equipment classes (templates), ICONICS promotes reuse and scalability while improving ease of configuration. Assets, as they are recognized by the AssetWorX software can represent any equipment or area in an application including pumps, chillers, turbines, gas fields, heat exchangers, plants, manufacturing lines, etc. With the ICONICS GENESIS64 version 10.8 release expected in May 2013, AssetWorX will become the first Asset Management Technology to include the ability to auto-configure assets for an HMI/SCADA system saving on engineering time, increasing ease of use and ensuring scalability for future application additions.

The ICONICS AssetWorX product can identify specific equipment and associate properties that include a real-time status, alarm data, historical data, and historical data analysis (indicating efficiency curves and energy utilization), runtime accumulation or downtime accumulation by cause. These configured asset properties could also include maintenance work order information with data acquired from a network-connected enterprise asset management (EAM) system, fault detection rules, mechanical drawings accessed from a networked CAD system or unit production data accessed from an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

With AssetWorX Navigator, the 'runtime' portion of ICONICS asset-based management software, an operator can view components that provide rapid intuitive navigation to information associated with each individual asset. This allows operators to spend less time looking for new data and statistics and provides easy access to all vital information. For example, by selecting an asset within AssetWorX Navigator, users can load a graphic display within a display frame or can add a new pen to a trend plot. With AssetWorX, ICONICS is focusing on bring information to the operator instead of requiring the operator to know where to look, reducing mean time to diagnose problems. Additionally, when viewing data via smartphone, a specific text message can be sent to anyone selected from a contact list allowing the system to contact the right person as soon as issues occur.

AssetWorX Navigator also allows for drill-down and roll-up aggregation into any level in the enterprise hierarchy, providing the capability for a deeper look into any asset branch. It also provides, via right-click or drag and drop, the ability to execute commands and operations associated with, or directed to, a specific asset. In addition, in the interest of security, each asset can be given a different access level that matches the access assigned to individual operators and users.

Cutting edge graphics and visualization are very important to ICONICS developers, and were especially kept in mind when creating the AssetWorX Viewer. Every asset can be seen in its proper hierarchy on the Asset Tree and is linked in order to provide detailed information that is gathered in real time. Asset properties can now be visualized and analyzed with all GENESIS64 and AnalytiX viewing components. This includes 2D and 3D animation on GraphWorX™64 graphics; as pens and data points on the wide variety of charts; as data in the cells of ICONICS' real-time grid; and in other data accessing products.

Enterprises with significant manufacturing assets have recognized the benefits gained by creating consistent object models that represent all production assets and hierarchies of assets. The concept of asset organization, as well as consistent dataflow from assets and between assets, is well defined in ISA95- Enterprise Control System Integration.

This standard defines models that can be used to represent all components of interest within the production process, such as site, area, manufacturing line, production unit, and equipment units. Implementing AssetWorX as a key component into a facility reduces engineering and operations time needed to reach full production levels. It also reduces training time through consistency in naming conventions, operation workflows, and equipment monitoring and product data models. The ability to focus on key performance indicators (KPIs) and other data for a user's specific role at a specific time is a tremendous benefit. With AssetWorX, systems can be online quicker and industry-wide issues such as engineering time can be significantly decreased, while making data more understandable and accessible.
