Shanghai Testing Self-Driving Store On Wheels

Wheelys Moby-Store is an autonomous, staffless, mobile store. Open 24 hours every day of the year, merging online and offline retailing. No lines, no checkout.

After rolling out its first cashier-free, automated checkout test store in Shanghai earlier this year, Swedish startup called Wheelys is now testing an autonomous store that roams the streets, called Moby Mart.

About the size of a small bus, the mart carries basics like fresh food, as well as things likes sneakers and magazines that are purchased through the store's app.

Down the road, the company plans to use AI and computer vision to navigate city streets, may add a drone delivery component and hints that customer might be able to summon the stores.
