Methods Machine Tools, Inc. (Sudbury, MA) has announced a multiple machine automation solution for manufacturing and deburring a high volume of like parts. The integrated automation cell features two High Performance FEELER VMP-580 Vertical Milling Machining Centers being serviced by a single FANUC M20iA robot set-up to process one side of a part in the first machine, and the second side in the other machine. The part is flipped in between operations while both machines are running. After finishing the machining, the robot processes the parts through a series of ATI brand compliant pneumatic deburring heads before placing them on the out-feed conveyor. This flexible configuration allows for two different machining operations, or could be set-up for both machines to run the same operation.
