As news of stolen data and cyberattacks becomes an increasing part of our daily lives, President Obama is urging Congress to pass legislation to better protect personal data and put the U.S. on a path to a better cyberdefense.
Earlier this week the AP reported that in the wake of high-profile breaches at retailers including Target, Home Depot and Neiman Marcus, the President wants Congress to consider the Personal Data Notification and Protection Act which would require companies to inform customers within 30 days if their data has been hacked. The legislation would also make it a crime to sell customers' identities overseas.
