Schaffner Expands Output Filters Line to 690VAC with FN5060HV

(Edison, NJ) – Schaffner has expanded their line of dv/dt filters to include the FN5060HV which protects AC motors up to 690/600VAC from destructive effects of peak voltages and inrush amps, increasing service life and system reliability. This patented technology protects motors and adjacent equipment without capacitors or resistors, making them simple to install. They efficiently reduce high output dv/dt from IGBT motor drives and eliminate over-voltages caused by line reflections on motor cables, per IEC 60034-17/25. Typical dv/dt reduction is a factor of 8 to 12. These filters are ideal for loads up to 690VAC, 30 to 1200A and motors up to 60 Hz. They are also well suited for motor drives with short to medium cable lengths, applications with frequent braking, danger of flash-over voltage and applications where motors are running at high temperature. Industries where these type of applications are common include chemical food and pharmaceutical processing, cement, metalworking, oil and gas, mining, and more. Applications include servo or torque motors, submersible or irrigation pumps, HVAC equipment including pumps, fans and compressors, elevators, hoists and cranes, process equipment and applications where sine wave filters are not suited (such as high dynamic operations).

Compact, resistor-less design saves floor mounting space and installs easily. With minimum power loss and low voltage drop, they maximize system efficiency.
