The Coca-Cola Company announced Tuesday that first names will return to its soda bottles as part of an expanded packaging campaign beginning May 1.
Coke added 250 names to 20-ounce bottles for its "Share a Coke" campaign last summer, which coincided with a 19 percent jump in sales — the category's largest ever year-over-year increase.
This year, 1,000 names will replace the traditional logos on Coke, Diet Coke and Coke Zero bottles beginning a few weeks earlier than the 2014 promotion.
"Our bottles and cans became a special part of people’s most memorable moments last year," said Jennifer Healan of Coca-Cola North America.
The company will also enable consumers to order personalized 8-ounce glass bottles, either individually or in six-packs, via a company website, while the campaign will add aluminum bottles and mini-cans this year.
Chris was the top-selling name on Coke bottles last year, and the company expects Michael and Jessica to take those honors this summer.
