On a per-share basis, the Atlanta-based company said it had profit of 4 cents.
The enterprise software provider posted revenue of $29.4 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $12.1 million, or 40 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $112.7 million.
American Software shares have climbed 28 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $14.94, an increase of 35 percent in the last 12 months.
