WINCHESTER, Ind. (AP) — An eastern Indiana auto parts factory that will begin production under new ownership next month will do so without nearly half of its workers.

Indiana Marujun vice president of business Eric Fields tells the (Richmond) Palladium-Item (https://www.pal-item.com/story/money/business/2016/11/03/marujuns-transition-means-major-jobs-cuts/93252946/ ) about 45 percent of the nearly 600 workers employed at the Winchester plant will not join TOA Industries because they weren't presented a job offer, declined an offer or didn't apply for jobs.

Fields says TOA is expected to begin production Dec. 1, and employment could reach 350 people.

Marujun announced it was closing the plant in September 2015, but fellow Japanese-owned auto parts maker TOA bought the plant earlier this year. TOA also operates a plant in Mooresville, and the Winchester plant will help it produce parts for Subaru vehicles.
