LA PORTE, Texas (AP) — LyondellBasell plans to build a high-density polyethylene plant at its chemical manufacturing complex near Houston.
The Houston-based oil refiner and chemical company on Friday announced its facility in La Porte (luh-PORT') will be the site for the plant that's expected to create up to 1,000 construction jobs.
A LyondellBasell statement says construction should begin in early 2017 at the location along the Houston Ship Channel.
Company officials say about 75 jobs are expected at the plant when operations begin in 2019.
