Ayotte Visits Raytheon Facility That Builds Equipment to Protect Our Troops

Jul 27, 2016

MANCHESTER, N.H. - On Thursday, July 21, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, Chair of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support, met with New Hampshire employees at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems in Andover, Massachusetts. Raytheon employs nearly 2,000 New Hampshire residents at its Massachusetts locations and employs more than 120 people at its Pelham, New Hampshire facility. Ayotte received an update on Raytheon's support of the U.S. military, met with dozens of constituents, and updated employees on her work on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"It was a privilege to meet with the skilled men and women at Raytheon who ensure that our troops and our allies have the best protection possible. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and as the spouse of a combat veteran, I will continue to advocate in Washington to support our warfighters and those defense suppliers who provide them the equipment and weapons they need to accomplish their missions and return home safely," said Senator Ayotte.

In testimony last year, in response to Ayotte, now-Army Chief of Staff General Mark Milley said, "Patriot plays a key role in not only acquiring and then destroying incoming fixed-wing aircraft, but also in intercepting and destroying incoming missiles. So Patriot is a very, very key system to the air defense of our allies and our own soldiers on the ground."

Believing that our ground troops deserve the best possible protection and supporting her constituents at Raytheon, Ayotte has been a leading advocate in Congress for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System, which Raytheon produces. Again this year, in addition to utilizing hearings and letters, Ayotte successfully included language in the Senate Armed Services Committee's Report on the Fiscal Year 2017 NDAA, in support of full funding for the Patriot Product Improvement program.
