TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Michelin North America has announced that it will be significantly increasing the warehouse capacity of its BFGoodrich plant in Tuscaloosa.

Michelin said in a news release Friday that a construction project beginning next month will allow the plant's storage facility to more than triple in size from 29,000 to 92,000 square feet.

About 1,360 employees work at the Tuscaloosa plant, which builds passenger and light truck tires and is one of two facilities fully dedicated to the production of BFGoodrich tires in the U.S.

The company is investing $8 million into the expansion project.
