FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A French-owned manufacturer of ice cream and coffee stir sticks says it plans to build a plant in Corbin and hire 90 people.

Republican Gov. Matt Bevin announced Thursday that Euro Sticks Group plans a $15 million investment in Corbin. The company was one that Bevin visited during his first overseas economic development trip in April.

Bevin said the company plans to lease and oversee the building of a 57,600-square foot building in the Southeast Kentucky Business Park. Bevin said eastern Kentucky's abundance of beech trees prompted the company's interest. The company plans to use beech logs to make up to 2 billion ice cream and coffee stir sticks each year.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has preliminarily approved up to $3 million in tax incentives for the company.
