COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) — A California company plans to build a solvent plant in the eastern Nebraska city of Columbus.

Santa Barbara-based Greenyug LLC announced Monday that the plant will be erected next to the Archer Daniels Midland ethanol plant. The Columbus Telegram reports (https://bit.ly/28KBMDB ) that Greenyug will use feedstock from ADM's wet corn mill to make the solvent.

The new plant is expected to employ up to 20 full-time workers. Greenyug Vice President Luca Zullo said the plant would cost tens of millions of dollars but would not provide a more specific figure.

Construction is expected to begin late this year and be finished by late 2017. The plant will produce the solvent ethyl acetate, which is used in such products as paint, coatings, pharmaceuticals and adhesives.
