ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — An Aberdeen man has pleaded guilty after authorities say he left a note at a manufacturing facility saying a bomb would go off at the 3M plant.
The Aberdeen American News (https://bit.ly/1S41Hnc ) reports 22-year-old Andrew Hough pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of false reporting to authorities.
Authorities say Hough falsely reported to police Saturday that there was black smoke on the side of the facility. Later that day, a bomb threat note was discovered in a bathroom, prompting a roughly 3-hour evacuation.
Nadine Gropp, 3M plant manager, says they immediately contacted police, who discovered it was a false alarm. She says cameras outside the building helped identify Hough, who was an employee there.
Hough received a $385 fine for each misdemeanor count. His jail sentence was almost completely suspended.
