AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — A German manufacturing company is planning to open its first U.S. plant in Auburn, creating 100 jobs.

Media outlets report that the Berghoff Group announced Wednesday that it will invest $30 million to build its new plant. Greg Canfield, secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce, says the plant is expected to create 100 precision machining jobs over the next five years.

The Auburn plant will be the company's fifth global manufacturing location. The Berghoff Group specializes in the mechanical processing of highly complex workpieces.
