GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — About 375 workers at a cigarette manufacturing plant in Greensboro will be losing their jobs in June.

Local media outlets report that ITG Brands announced the layoffs on Friday.

The layoffs are taking place because of an end to a manufacturing agreement the company has with Reynolds American. ITG workers were told back in February that the agreement could end as early as June.

The company will now be manufacturing fewer cigarettes.

Company spokesman Mark Smith says that it was a difficult decision but one that had to be made.
