NEW YORK (AP) — Automaker GM said Friday that former vice chairman Stephen Girsky won't run for another term on the board of directors. The company wants to replace him with the former CEO of Harvard University's endowment fund.

Girsky was vice chairman of General Motors Co. from March 2010 through January 2014 and at one point was president of GM Europe.

The company nominated Jane Mendillo to take Girsky's place on the board. Shareholders will vote on the nomination in June. Mendillo was the CEO of Harvard Management Company from 2008 to 2014, and before that, she held a similar role at Wellesley College. She is also a director of the financial advisory and asset management firm Lazard.
