PARIS (AP) — French car giant PSA Group, which produces Peugeot and Citroen vehicles, says the fraud squad has paid a visit and seized some material as part of a probe into emissions after the Volkswagen scandal.

France's biggest auto producer released a statement about the search on Thursday by the General Directorate for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control, in a clear bid to dismiss suspicions of emissions cheating.

PSA Group "is fully cooperating," the statement said.

The search is part of an investigation ordered by the French Economics Ministry after Volkswagen admitted it installed software on 11 million cars that turns on pollution controls during tests but shuts them off on the road. Volkswagen agreed to buy back or fix about 482,000 rigged vehicles in the U.S.
