NEW YORK (AP) — VF Corp. is giving its fan apparel business a closer look and thinking about what comes next.

The clothing and shoe company said Friday that it's exploring "strategic alternatives" for the business, which typically means a sale or partial sale.

A spokesman for the company confirmed Friday that that avenue is being pursued.

The unit makes T-shirts, jackets and other clothing stamped with logos of professional or college teams, and includes its Majestic brand. VF says the licensed sports business brought in about $550 million in revenue last year.

VF of Greensboro, North Carolina, has several brands, including Vans sneakers, Nautica apparel and Wrangler jeans.
