CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — BMW and the South Carolina Ports Authority are marking a milestone on the Charleston docks.
Officials are scheduled to gather on Thursday as the two-millionth BMW manufactured at the company's plant in Greer for export is loaded onto a ship.
Authority president and CEO Jim Newsome and BMW Manufacturing president Manfred Erlacher are attending the event.
BMW opened its plant in upstate South Carolina back in 1994.
The company exported almost $10 billion worth of vehicles from its South Carolina assembly plant last year, remaining the nation's leading vehicle exporter in terms of the value of the vehicles.
