PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich says the U.S. Supreme Court has cleared the way for distribution of $8.6 million to Arizonans who paid artificially inflated prices for electronic books.
The high court Monday rejected an appeal from Apple Inc. and left in place a ruling that the company conspired with publishers to raise electronic book prices.
Brnovich says $400 million will be refunded to consumers nationwide.
The case pertains to e-books sold from April 1, 2010 to May 21, 2012, and Brnovich says Arizonans who overpaid for books during that period have waited long enough for refunds.
Arizona was part of a 33-state coalition which with the U.S. Justice Department sued Apple and five publishers.
The publishers settled and paid compensation that included nearly $3.5 million for Arizonans.
