DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A Rock Island, Illinois company that manufactures body armor for police officers and agencies of foreign government allies of the United States is proposing to move its factory to Centerville.
RMA Armament is asking the Iowa Economic Development Authority Friday for high quality job tax incentives for the $680,000 project to remodel the former National Guard Armory. The move will allow the company to expand production in hopes of extending its business to the federal government market.
The board also will consider a major expansion at HNI Corp. in Muscatine, the world's largest manufacturer of fireplaces and stoves and the second largest office furniture maker. HNI, the maker of Allsteel, Hon and Heatilator brands, is seeking tax incentives for the $27 million project expansion.
The economic development board meets Friday.
