CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities say one worker is dead and another seriously injured after a wall collapsed at the Ford Motor Co.'s Chicago Assembly Plant on the city's far South Side.
The Chicago Fire Department says the accident happened just before 11 a.m. on Friday in part of the plant under construction. A section of a concrete wall collapsed, killing a 45-year-old man. Another man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition.
Chicago police spokesman Kevin Quaid says the 45-year-old was pronounced dead at another hospital.
In a statement Ford officials say a contract worker was killed in a construction accident and another worker was injured while trying to help.
Company officials say they're cooperating fully in the investigation.
