On the CBS MoneyWatch now, the most loved cars on the road and a big lift for Weight Watchers. Wendy Gillette is here in New York with that and more. Good morning, Wendy.

WENDY GILLETTE: Good morning, Anne-Marie. Puerto Rico says it will technically default on general obligation bonds next week. The U.S. territory`s governor said on Wednesday bondholders will receive the three hundred and twenty-nine million dollars they are owed, but that payment will come from lower-grade bonds. General obligation bonds are considered the safest investment bonds. Puerto Rico has racked up billions in bond debt that it says it cannot pay.

Wall Street stocks ended lower on yet another drop in oil prices. The Dow lost one hundred and seventeen points on Wednesday. The S&P 500 index was off fifteen. The NASDAQ fell forty-two points.

The U.S. is, reportedly, preparing new sanctions over Iran`s ballistic missile program. The Wall Street Journal says the potential sanctions can be imposed under July`s landmark nuclear agreement. International companies and individuals suspected of involvement in the ballistic missile program would be targeted.

Oprah Winfrey`s new TV commercial for Weight Watchers has given the company`s stock price another boost. The commercial began airing on Wednesday. Shares jumped nineteen percent. Weight Watchers stock has more than tripled since October when Winfrey bought a ten-percent stake in the company.

And Consumer Reports Magazine asked readers to choose their favorite cars. Most satisfying were the Tesla Model S, the Chevy Corvette and the Porsche Cayman. At the bottom of the list of least satisfying cars, the Nissan Juke, the Fiat 500L, and the Nissan Pathfinder. Anne-Marie, Happy New Year.
