SHELL ROCK, Iowa (AP) — More layoffs have been announced at a northeast Iowa farm equipment plant.

Personnel director Mark Shaw at the Unverferth Manufacturing Co. Inc. plant in Shell Rock says the workers were told about the layoffs earlier this month and that they will occur by Jan. 4. The first round of layoffs began Nov. 30.

The company has declined to say how many workers have lost or will lose their jobs. The Kalida, Ohio-based company makes grain wagons and pull-type crop sprayers.

Shaw and corporate spokesman Jerry Ecklund told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier (https://bit.ly/1IsAT2p ) that the sagging agriculture economy is behind both layoffs.
