In a $130 billion deal, Dow Chemical and the DuPont Co. announced Friday that they are merging.

Here are the companies' operations in West Virginia:

Dow:

— South Charleston manufacturing plant. Produces more than 500 chemicals and plastics. Serves as redistribution facility for chemicals manufactured elsewhere. Dow subsidiary Union Carbide provides staffing, services and utilities for a production unit owned by Bayer Corp.

— South Charleston Technology Park. Serves as a center for engineering, research and development and integrated data processing.

— Guest operations in Institute owned and operated by Bayer CropScience. Union Carbide also has facilities at the Institute site that produce about 500 million pounds of specialty chemical products annually.

DuPont:

— Belle, Kanawha County. Produces two dozen chemical products for a variety of uses, including cosmetics, crop protection, detergents, dyes, explosives, fabric softeners, pharmaceuticals and plastics components.

— Washington, Wood County. Manufactures hundreds of products that primarily supply the construction and automotive industries.
