Monday morning marked Wisconsin’s official initiation into the group of 25 “right-to-work” states. The “right-to-work” status outlaws the mandatory payment of union dues in an effort to boost economic competition.

The Wisconsin Legislature voted at the end of February, pushing the bill forward soon after its proposal and sparking protests at the state capitol building.

The Manufacturing Snapshot of the Week shows Todd Groom and his 4-year-old son Haydan participating in the February 28, 2015 rally against the “right-to-work” proposal. Groom, a member of the Iron Workers Local 383 out of Madison, joined thousands of other union workers who joined together to express dissent at the bill’s passing.

More
