Giving Back: How One Clothing Manufacturer Helps The Homeless

While many are busy clipping coupons and strategizing detailed holiday shopping game plans to nab the best deals, one company is offering customers a way to give back.

Thanksgiving is over and the largest shopping season is upon us. And while many are busy clipping coupons and strategizing detailed holiday shopping game plans to nab the best deals, one company is offering customers a way to give back.

Mitscoots Outfitters has been making apparel since 2012 and in addition to providing their customers with high-quality socks, shirts, hats, gloves and scarves — 100 percent made in America — they are also helping those less fortunate in their community and throughout the country. For every sock, tee, hat, etc… sold, Mitscoots gives an equal item away to those in need.

“The need for gear is enormous and we want to do everything we can to take care of it,” it reads on the company website.

By partnering with local and national charities, the company is able to donate all over the U.S.  to anyone in need — whether they are homeless or a family struggling to make ends meet.

According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, on a single night in January 2015, more than 560,000 were experiencing homelessness — sleeping outside, at an emergency shelter or in transitional housing.

In addition to donating clothing items, Miscoots hopes to help the transitioning homeless gain confidence and skills needed to provide for themselves. They have partnered with several organizations that specialize in taking individuals off of the street and getting them into steady employment. All the gear at Miscoots is packaged by these individuals.

“We are able to offer those in need an opportunity to get back on their feet by helping to package all of our gear and getting it shipped to our customers,” the company states.
