Throwback Thursday: A Graphic, Horror-Like Factory Safety Video

Recently, a workplace safety video called "Will You Be Here Tomorrow?" from 1998 has resurfaced its way around the Internet. While workplace safety is certainly no joke, this video seems to take it to an extreme that's hard to take seriously.

Today is the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, according to the International Labour Organization. So now more than ever is an appropriate time to reflect on workplace safety and how it has evolved over the past few decades.

Recently, a workplace safety video called "Will You Be Here Tomorrow?" from 1998 has resurfaced its way around the Internet. Created by Educational Resources, Inc., the nearly five-minute video follows a series of gruesome workplace accidents due to careless mistakes and rule-breaking around a factory.

While workplace safety is certainly no joke, this video seems to take it to an extreme that's hard to take seriously. However, it is arguable that this video could be so disturbing that it actually might be effective in deterring preventable injuries and fatalities at work.

You can watch the video here, but be warned — it's incredibly graphic.

So, what do you think? Is this video effective at sending a message of safety? How has safety training changed over the past couple decades?
