Washington, D.C. â€“ National Association of Manufacturers Vice President of Energy and Resources Policy Ross Eisenberg issued the following statement after the release of the Department of the Interior’s Offshore Leasing Plan:

“For manufacturing to succeed, access to reliable and affordable energy is essential. Although our oil and natural gas production has been a boon for manufacturing growth and productivity in recent years, this misguided plan has the opposite effect, hurting our competitiveness, the ability to create jobs and economic growth. By prematurely locking up large areas of resources from both research and development, despite bipartisan support from communities and states for offshore development, this administration is forfeiting our success. Manufacturers use one-third of our nation’s energy. We need a president who will commit to developing our resources, benefiting Americans and manufacturing, and not an administration that caves to extremists.”
